About Me
Here is some ex-update info that is still worth reading

 - Gwen confirmed at her final show of the tour last night that she is in fact pregnant. During Crash she said "sing it loud so the baby can hear!" and pointed to her stomach - how cute! Gwen cried alot during the concert, patted her stomach quite a few times, and Gavin was up the front filming parts of the show.

 - Taken from rollingstone.com:

'Five time Grammy nominated Gwen Stefani is approximately three months pregnant, according to US Weekly. The magazine reports that family members close to both Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale confirmed the news. This would be the first child for the pop star and No Doubt frontwoman, 36, and the second for the former Bush frontman, 38.

Douglas Rossdale, Gavin's father, told the London US Weekly office, "We are delighted." Stefani's mother, Patti, also confirmed the pregnancy to the magazine's Los Angeles office. The artists' publicists have yet to personally confirm the report. The charismatic singer for pop-ska superstars No Doubt, Stefani broke out as a solo artist last year with the release of her debut, Love, Angel, Music, Baby. The album went on to sell big, and was recently nominated for five Grammys -- including Album of the Year and Record of the Year, for the single "Hollaback Girl."

Stefani and Rossdale were wed in 2002. Their baby is reportedly due in June.

 - 'There's a second No Doubt baby on the way - guitarist Tom Dumont and his wife, Mieke, are expecting their first child together, according to the band's label rep. The couple got married in October 2004, and Mieke is now five and a half months along. (The first No Doubt baby, of course, is toddler Mason James Young, son of drummer Adrian Young and wife Nina). ... Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani continues to take care of her baby - her solo career, that is - by signing on to the growing list of performers for the upcoming Billboard Music Awards (she's also up for nods in three categories, including New Artist of the Year).'

 - ‘Gwen Stefani knows all about making fans feel luxurious. Her new collection Harajuku Lovers is an extension of her album “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” It’s heavily influenced by the free fashion of the Harajuku girls in Tokyo; we’re going to be bold and deem the crazy cool line the next big fashion thing for 2006. She teamed up with California-based Jerry Leigh to establish Harajuku Lovers as a lifestyle brand, and it’s a lot more affordable than her other funky fun line, L.A.M.B. The HL line is just as street chic and will be carried in Urban Outfitters, Fred Segal, Kitson and other high-fashion boutiques. It’s kind of like Hello Kitty meets hip-hop meets glam meets Tokyo style. The line has everything from stationery to stay fly hoodies and will soon include handbags, intimates, baby gear and more.’

 - There's a book out called 'The Rough Guide To Rock' which is basically a book that names all the big rock bands out there. There's a piece on ND with a photo from the Rock Steady tour, so it was probably published around 2002. It's the third edition and costs AU$50, I saw it in Borders.

 - Apparently HL items sizes will range from baby to XXL

 - Gwen is known for recycling her lyrics - "born to blossom, bloom to perish" (Beauty Contest, What You Waiting For), "army of words" (Start The Fire, You're So Foxy), "is it healthy that we met?" (Everything In Time, Panic).

 - 'Even if you can't stand No Doubt's Gwen Stefani, she's probably the most iconic white female pop performer of the past decade, and the Japanese visual bent of her solo show should make for impressive spectacle.'

 - I found this funny

 - 'Stefani originally planned to use her Love, Angel, Music, Baby leftovers as an EP or as extra tracks on a holiday DVD release, but Pharrell, who'd worked with her on "Hollaback Girl," convinced her that she could make a L.A.M.B. part two. The only problem was that he convinced her during the only free time she would have to spend chilling with her husband before she needed to start preparing to launch her first New York fashion show and first solo tour this fall. He invited her to come to Miami, and she was floored.
"I was like, 'Wow, that's very ambitious,' " she said. " 'On the one break that I might have to hang out with Gavin, to hang out with you for 10 days and write songs again?' But it's such an opportunity to work with him, so I did it."
"I think me and Gwen are like the same people," Pharrell said. "We're people cut from their own cloth. Not a different cloth, their own cloth. Gwen is like the girl in high school who had her own style. Everyone went to high school with that girl, and she's cute with it. And then you got the other girls with the purple hair, standing by the lockers, who are just followers of a musical movement. Gwen marches to the beat of her own drum. We wave that flag together, 'Just be you, who cares?' "
The two ended up creating six or seven new tracks together, including "Orange County Girl," "Breaking Up," "Candyland" and "Wind It Up." And the timing ended up being perfect after all, since Stefani was then able to showcase the new tunes in both her fashion show and on the road.
"It's incredible work that she did," Pharrell said. "They sound hot."
"The more recent ones sound even more severe to the left," Stefani said. "It's just very fresh, almost like, 'What is this music and why am I doing it?' But Pharrell's so inspiring. You have to hear it to understand. A lot of my inspirations are these songs [that] are his inspirations, like this thing that's going down in Texas. Slim Thug? I never heard of that before."
Pharrell wasn't the only one contributing to Stefani's new songs - her mom (inadvertently) makes a contribution to "Orange County Girl," which Stefani didn't even realize until she was reading her band's Web site and checking out what people posted about the song.
"I love that song, it's a sick song, it's a song I always needed to have," Stefani said, "but people are trying to post the lyrics, and they're so getting the lyrics so wrong. I'm so proud of them, because it's so exactly like growing up in Orange County and how I got to this point. And reading them, someone had posted that I had copied what my mom said on 'Oprah.' My mom got asked something and she said, 'My daughter Gwen is just an ordinary girl in an extraordinary world.' And I went, 'She's right!' So I e-mailed my mom, 'I copied your lyrics, you need credit.' "
While Stefani doesn't have a release date in mind yet for her follow-up, she figures she'll have to shoot the video and artwork while she's on tour if she wants it to be out by early next year. Then again she's not so sure it's ready yet, even though she has plenty of songs recorded. "I have so much traffic in my head," she said, "and I need to see if they're good enough yet. I have to live with them and play them for my friends."
And her fans, who are responding positively so far. "It's going over so well," she said. "Usually when you play new songs live, people don't know how to react. But they're getting what it's about."

 - 'After her sold-out Hollywood Bowl show, Gwen Stefani headed over to the Hollywood Museum for the late-night launch of her Harajuku Lovers fashion line. Among those popping sushi while waiting for the pop starlet to make her grand appearance were newlyweds Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, as well as members of Black Eyed Peas. "Harajuku Lovers can be anything that inspires me -- T shirts, sweatshirts, underwear, hats, belts, wristbands, hair accessories," Stefani said. "The shit is bananas." After accepting a plaque in recognition of "Hollaback Girl" being downloaded one million times, Stefani and her Harajuku gals hit the dance floor until the wee hours.'

 - 'When Madonna accused Gwen Stefani of copying her style last week - "She ripped me off. She married a Brit, she's got blonde hair and she likes fashion" - it seemed like business as usual. With a new album to promote, her Madgeness has a habit of slapping down her best friends/rivals. Because for many, Stefani is the new Madonna, and her debut solo album, Love.Angel.Music.Baby, is the album Madonna should have made.

It's been a great year for Stefani, a genuine pop original in a sea of Jems and Nora Joneses and Didos. She was voted best international female artist at the 2005 Brit Awards and the album, which marries 1980s mutant electro-pop with hip-hop, has sold a staggering five million copies. More remarkable still in the racially segregated world of American radio and MTV, Stefani, a white singer-songwriter, has achieved crossover to a black audience. The high-profile collaborators on her solo album include the superproducer Pharrell Williams, rapper Eve and Outkast's Andre 3000. The album's most polemical track, "Long Way To Go", deals with race issues and ends with a quote from Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech. Last week in concert Stefani dedicated it to the late civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks.
But not only is Stefani more than just a pretty face, she's also more than just a singer. Known for her outrageous fashion sense (who else would dare to wear a fur stole and hotpants, accessorised with crown and sceptre, on her album sleeve?) she also runs her own diffusion label, L.A.M.B. The range already has a cult following which includes Cameron Diaz and Paris Hilton. In September, Stefani staged her debut catwalk show in New York, and Anna Wintour, the steel-tongued editor of US Vogue, declared, "We will soon see Gwen Stefani's range L.A.M.B. competing with Donna Karan's DKNY." With her ash-blonde bleach and slash of carmine lipstick, Stefani combines old-fashioned Hollywood glamour with tomboy cool.
"When I think fans, I think girls, because my overall thing isn't sexy," she says. Her sparky, self-deprecating lyrics mean that she is perceived as cool but authentic by her teen fans. A self-confessed "dork" and "geek", she admits she has to watch her weight and makes no secret of the fact that her biological clock is ticking, as the first single from her recent solo debut, "What You Waiting For?", chronicles. According to Sarah Ivens, editor of OK! in the US, "Gwen is constantly daring to be different, and searching for all things radical and trend-setting, while remaining almost sugary sweet. "She's a girl's girl and hangs out in her gang in a way that teenage girls across the country do - dancing, trying new looks and laughing about life and boys. "Her songs aren't just about love - they are about friendship and fights and standing up for yourself - useful things for teenagers to learn about."
So is Stefani the sex goddess with the Minnie Mouse voice, or the earnest family girl who claims she has only ever had two boyfriends and who lived with her parents until she was 30? "She seems very benign and wholesome," says Garbage singer Shirley Manson, who has known Stefani since the mid-Nineties, "but underneath lurks an incredible toughness and powerful directness."
"I'd always felt famous, at least in Anaheim," she says. "But when it went worldwide, well, that was just plain weird. "I'm a very private person, and so getting used to that kind of limelight was never going to be easy."
But the marriage survived and earlier this year she quipped: "In my next life I am going to be a guy and I'm going to be a complete slut.." After 18 years as a performer, she controls every aspect of her career, from videos to merchandising. The only true female rock star left on US radio or MTV, she has eclipsed all the competition.
When Mrs Ritchie, pop's other big Italian-Catholic female, releases her new album, also inspired by the 1970s and 1980s dancefloor, later this month, it promises to be a fascinating battle of the bottle blondes.’

 - 'For a song that references limousines, platinum, diamonds, cashmere and even Egyptian cotton, Gwen Stefani's "Luxurious" is surprisingly sentimental. "That song really is more about a love relationship," Stefani said of her new single, the fifth from her debut solo album, Love, Angel, Music, Baby. "If you really listen to the lyrics, it has nothing to do with money or luxury. It has to do with love, being rich in love. I just wanted to think of a clever way to express how you have to work really hard for the rewards of that." When Stefani sings lines like, "Look, I'm livin' like a queen," she's saying that being in love is the ultimate luxury. "I mean, nothing really does compare," she continued, prior to taking the stage for a recent stop of her Harajuku Lovers Tour (see "Gwen Stefani Brings Solo Show To Hollywood 'Hometown' Crowd"). "As I mature ... the people around me are trying to find people they're into and it becomes harder and harder. I just feel really lucky that I found someone that I like hanging out with." Stefani is obviously referring to husband Gavin Rossdale, although strangely enough, she wrote the song with her ex-boyfriend. "Tony and I wrote that song - you would think I would've written that with somebody else, but that was me and Tony in his room," she said of No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal. "I knew I wanted to do this really kinda fast rappy part. And so we were listening to all these different things, trying to rip all these melodies off. It was one of the last songs we wrote." Once Stefani and Kanal thought it was done, they played the song for producer Nellee Hooper, who instantly suggested adding a sample of the Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets," the same track Notorious B.I.G. sampled for "Big Poppa." "We were like, 'What?!' 'Cause if you use a sample, it means you have to basically hand the song [publishing rights] over to the person that you're using the sample of," Stefani explained. "It's just a weird thing that happened where we had written a song and the sample came on afterward, but it sounded so amazing and meant to be that we just ended up doing it anyway." Stefani never expected "Luxurious" would become a single, and therefore never thought much about the video. "Usually I have [a video concept] right when I write the song," she said. "I had this one vision of this girl that was from high school named Mercedes ... she's very inspiring. She's this total like chola girl, white face, and she used to sit in class and put on tons of makeup. And I used to just watch her, mesmerized. And she would just wear this dark liner and this red lipstick and she had this safety pin and she'd be picking her eyelashes apart. She hadn't taken that mascara off for months." Stefani called Sophie Muller, who directed the "Cool" clip and told her she had to helm it. "She didn't understand, so I basically had to come up with all the ideas and forced her into doing this different lighting and different style and it was really fun for us," Stefani said. "I'm really happy with how it turned out."

 - Apparently some of the jewellery Gwen is wearing in the Luxurious clip is from the upcoming line of jewellery she is adding to LAMB

 - 'Pop beauty Gwen Stefani paid tribute to late US civil rights icon Rosa Parks at her Detroit, Michigan concert on Saturday. African-American Parks, who made headlines almost 50 years ago when she challenged Alabama's segregation laws and refused to give up her seat on a bus for a white man, died in Detroit last month of natural causes.

At Stefani's sell-out gig at the Palace of Auburn Hills, the No Doubt star dedicated her Love Angel Music Baby album track Long Way To Go to Parks.'

 - "Have you ever heard such a ridiculous song in your life?" - Gwen on Serious

 - If you look closely at her hairline, you can see that Gwen is wearing a wig here

 - Check out some of the Pussycat Dolls merch, looks a little like LAMB

 - It's Gwen's bodyguard who decides who gets up on stage during Hollaback Girl

 - 'Certainly, Madonna's imitators and inheritors are legion, from teen upstarts to Britney Spears to 36-year-old Gwen Stefani, whose solo album featured virtual homages to her obvious idol. "She ripped me off, so we mutually agreed that I could rip her off," Madonna quips of Stefani. "We work with a lot of the same people. She married a Brit, she's got blond hair and she likes fashion. But I don't mind. I think she's very sweet and really talented." '

 - 'Gwen Stefani is the closest thing the new millennium has to a musical chameleon. From hip-hop "Hollaback Girl" to pop "Cool" and all hits in between, the ingenue has proved to possess a Madonna-like versatility in her ability to successfully tackle numerous contemporary styles. The fifth single from double-platinum "Love. Angel. Music. Baby" shifts gears yet again, serving a chillin' beat and beefy R&B vocal, with a sample from the Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets." Stefani is a focal point for top 40 as a staple act that persistently surprises and extends the boundaries of the format. Add her pop culture cachet and she has earned her keep.'

 - Fact for today: apparently Gwen is a bit of a germaphobe and isn't all that huge on touching people, mainly because she meets so many people and could get sick easily.

 - Check out this and this

 - More concert info: Apparently Gwen swears alot during Crash. There are three buses for the tour, presumably one for Gwen, one for the band, and one for the Harajuku Girls and Boys (there are four male dancers, however I don't think any are Asian).

 - Tears In Heaven is now available from www.7digital.com and Itunes. There is a clip on the Itunes site where you can hear Gwen's bit. You have to purchase them with a credit card. If you are outside the US you can't get it from Itunes US, I'm not too sure about the other one.

 - You can now bid on the plaster casts at www.keep-a-breast.org!

 - Hollaback Girl parody video: http://viknluda.com/foe/video/google.html

 - Gwen's first show of the tour was yesterday! A topic on the official forum has been pinned, you can view it here: http://forums.nodoubt.com/forums/63009/ShowPost.aspx. Gwen had a costume change for every song, during which the Harajuku Girls would do some routines to entertain the crowd. She played OC Girl  and Candyland but she didn't play Lookout Weekend. All HL merch was available for sale for alot cheaper than the site - around US$30-35 for tshirts, US$50 or $60 for the Bananas hoodie. The majority of the fans at the show seemed to be newbie fans, not many ND fans. The show went for approx 90mins. There are some videos up on BSO, as well as some photos. During the hwole show she showed photo montages etc up on the screen, and during Serious they acted out an operation where Gwen was on the surgery table! Apparently Gwen cried during Danger Zone.

 - 'Due in mid-November, Hurricane Relief has 30 confirmed tracks so far, most of which are previously unreleased, and more will be announced soon. Among live recordings are Coldplay's Fix You, James Brown's Try Me, Elton John's I'm Still Standing and John Fogerty's Born on the Bayou. A version of Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven spotlights Ringo Starr, Mary J. Blige, Gwen Stefani and Andrea Bocelli. Eric Benet, Michael McDonald and Wynonna Judd link voices on Heart of America. Barbra Streisand submits the unreleased I Believe, and Bonnie Raitt contributes her current I Will Not Be Broken.'

 - Someone mentioned on the forum that they emailed LAMB asking why none of the new products were on the website, and the response was that basically they ship all their orders to stores and the remainders go up on the website. Thanks to Rude*Girl for the info.

 - Just A Girl has been listed in Kerrang's 50 Songs That Changed The World: "The ultimate pop-punk girl power song, this was Gwen Stefani kicking out at sexism - the "I'm just a girl" line is laced with irony and completed by the phrase "... that's all that you'll let me be" at the end of the song. It was the band's breakthrough hit, taken from their third album "Tragic Kingdom" and opened the gates for "Don't Speak" and a plethora of future No Doubt hits. Major support from LA radio behemoth KROQ led to No Doubt making their national TV debut on the Conan O' Brien show and the song also made it into movies including "Romy And Michelle's High School Reunion" and "Clueless". Not bad for a band who had been told four years ago by a KROQ programme director that it would take an "act of God" for them to get on their station."

 - The NDIFC sent out an email with info on Gwen's tour: 'The NDIFC was invited to a full reheresal of Gwen's Harajuku Lovers tour in Los Angeles this week. If you do not wish to hear about various songs played and things about the show then DO NOT read on. For those of you who would like some tidbits from the show read on (although this is not an entire review of the show but rather a preview).
One of the first things you will notice at the show is that Gwen's band is not the same one that she played with the past few months. Her new band features Warren Fitzgerald on guitar (who you may know from the Vandals), and Gabrial McNair (No Doubt) on keyboards and backup vocals as well as an additional keyboard/keytar player, a bass player (who has an amazing voice and does some background vocals) and a drummer.
Dancerwise Gwen still has the Harajuku Girls and has added several male dancers to accompany them, many of whom are great at breakdancing and gymnastics. There are a few times between songs when the dancers get to showcase their skills across the stage. The Harajuku Girls and the male dancers interact on a number of occasions and play off of each other. The dancers make several costume changes as does Gwen. Gwen wears everything from a 50's swimsuit,a track suit, the cheerleader outfit she wore in the Hollaback Girl video, and even a dress full of rhinestones. There are almost as many costume changes as there are songs in the set!
Gwen's setlist clocks in at just around an hour and includes all of her singles as well as a surprise new song that was either leftover from the LAMB sessions or is perhaps from her followup to LAMB. There are several interesting video sequences played between songs on several screens hanging from the ceiling. At one point there is even a slideshow that includes many photos of Gwen with No Doubt in the early days.
One worry I've heard many fans mention was how Gwen would recreate certain songs live, especially the songs that have guest vocalists (i.e. Rich Girl, Long Way To Go, Bubble Pop Electric). I can say that she not only played all those songs, but she adapted them to the live setting quite well. I have no doubt (no pun intended) that anyone who has purchased tickets to one of Gwen's shows will have a great time and be thoroughly entertained, I know I was! We would love any and all reviews/photos from the tour that you may wish to share with our visitors, send them our way!' - Brandon Griggs, Vice-President NDIFC

 - Tom posted on the forum yesterday: 'My friend Mr. Keyes emailed me and said "Tom why haven't you posted in the new forum yet?! Egads what is wrong with you?" In reply to his urgings I've come here to offer a greeting to you and to extend a firm electronic handshake as a sincere welcome to No Doubt's home in cyberspace. Please sit down and make yourself comfortable at your computer terminal and peruse the annals here. Good day, Tom.'

 - Fast facts: The name of the video game being played in the Hella Good video is called Jet Set Radio Future. The car featured in the Just A Girl video is also the one on the back cover of BSC, and the photo was taken by Eric Keyes.

 - 'Singer and clothes designer Gwen Stefani has made an unusual request to fans - to dress her on tour. The trendy RICH GIRL hitmaker recently launched her own fashion label LAMB, but has still asked for help in picking clothes for her forthcoming Harajuku Lovers tour, which kicks off next month. The eccentric 36-year-old will be reading ideas and scrutinising designs posted by fans on her official website.'

 - Apparently the house featured in the Cool video is actually George Clooney's house, according to a forum member who lives in Italy.

 - Tony was at a wedding last weekend and wore a black tux with light pink. His hair was longer and in a ponytail. Posted on the forum by 818luvznd.

 - 'Costumes worn by Gwen Stefani and Leonardo DiCaprio in the Martin Scorsese film The Aviator are on display in North Yorkshire this weekend. Visitors can admire the ivory satin gown worn by Miss Stefani which is draped with a pastel pink velvet cloak edged with marabou feathers and decorated with an orchid corsage. It is shown alongside DiCaprio's dress coat with tails. Costume designer Sandy Powell won an Oscar for her work on The Aviator.
The exhibition's display co-ordinator, Jane Bolsover, said: "This is a rare opportunity for people to see both original bias-cut dresses and skillfully designed replicas from the film, which epitomise the style and glamour of the 30s Hollywood glitterati." '

 - 'Tom DeLonge, the Foo Fighters, New Found Glory and members of No Doubt are among the artists donating painted casts to be auctioned off for the Keep a Breast foundation. But they're not casts of arms or legs - they're casts of breasts, painted by the musicians to raise money for youth breast-cancer awareness. The auction gets under way on on Saturday at Keep-A-Breast.org, and several of the casts will be on display at benefit parties to be held in New York (Saturday) and Culver City, California (October 22).'

The video shoots October 1st and 2nd."

 - An email went out yesterday from Gwen's site: Gwen knows she has a lot of devoted fans out there and that many of you love to show how creative you are - we've seen amazing outfits, tattoos, photo collages and even airbrushed cars. So we want to feature images of your creations on gwenstefani.com and possibly even as part of the upcoming tour. So get out your digital cameras and send a photo of something Gwen related that you've created. All photos must be submitted by October 7th, so be sure to send them right away. To submit photos head to www.gwenstefani.com/fanphotos

 - Gwen's band for the HL tour was hand picked by Gwen herself, she has chosen:

Warren Fitzgerald - lead guitar (The Vandals)
Gail Ann Dorsey - bass and vocal (has toured with David Bowie)
Zack Alford - drums (formerly of B52's and tours with Springsteen)
Kris Pooley - keyboards and vocals (Janes Addiction)
Gabe McNair - keyboard and vocals (No Doubt)

 - For those who didn't know this, at the beginning of Total Hate Gwen says "chick it up", which is apparently a ska thing.

 - 'Gwen Stefani, whose iconic style H&M appears to have modelled a good portion of their fall line after, fears not the occasional, substantial pair of breeches. It’s for women like this that fall’s voluminous pants and skirts were designed: aviator trousers in tweeds and plaids, identifiable by their "roomy thighs," then tapering in below the knees; the flowing, full-legged men’s slacks made famous by Katherine Hepburn and Annie Hall, now tucked into flat brown riding boots; the tulip and bubble skirts, with a higher, fitted waistband, but ballooning around the hip area; and too many permutations of the cropped, baggy pant to describe. Stefani can pull this off, because she has four-inch-high stilettos to pair them with, and a chauffeured ride to and from the recording studio. She will not trudge into the subway at 4 a.m. in her capacious pantaloons. She will not fear that her flowy pair of cropped trousers make her look like an angry little Napoleon. But she also exists in super special celebrity world, where fat doesn't exist and everyone has a one-name trainer called Radu.'

 - Now that Gwen Stefani's finished with her first New York fashion show, she's planning to get back to work on music once again. She's heading to Los Angeles to begin rehearsals for her upcoming solo tour, which kicks off October 16 in Phoenix.
"I'm looking forward to it, it's going to be unbelievable," she said. While "the set list is set," she's hoping to throw a few of her new songs into the show. "I would love to try to roll a little bit of 'Orange County Girl' in there. We'll see. Anything can happen in rehearsals. I don't even know how long the show can be right now." While in town for rehearsals, she's also going to slip in a guest appearance in Pharrell's video for his new single, "Can I Have It Like That," which is shooting on Friday and Saturday. Stefani's also got a new single of her own; she's picked "Luxurious" to be her follow-up to "Cool."

 - "Just don't wake me up!" Gwen gushes after her fashion show, hanging out backstage with a crowd of reporters and well-wishers. "Because I'm saying, that was pretty great. That was beyond any dream I've ever had. It was so incredible, just to be able to have a show and to be able to share it with everyone in that kind of way ... and all these unbelievable, beautiful, tall skinny girls that I just want to hit because they're so pretty, walking in the clothes. It was extraordinary."

 - "I wasn't going to do the Target line," Gwen says. "I wasn't going to do a line for my fans because they were so cheap. I want to make stuff for myself. It's a kinda selfish thing ... I am very selfish!" L.A.M.B. certainly doesn't come at Target prices — pieces range from $75 to $950. But because Gwen is not trying to cater to anyone but herself, the L.A.M.B. looks always have an authentic Gwen stamp — down to the gothic-print lyrics often imprinted on the hems, collars, and the fronts of dresses.'

 - Fact for today: the man on the cover of BSC is Gwen's grandfather on her Dad's side, the man from the Sunday Morning and Trapped in a Box videos is her grandfather on her Mum's side.

 - Among the celebrities who were at Gwen's fashion show were Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, NIcky Hilton, P Diddy, Kelly Osbourne, Scott Wieland, Alexis Bledel, and Faith Hill.

 - 'Interspersing snippets from "The Sound of Music" with her own music, Stefani presented some of her favorite cars, clothes and music on an unconventional runway that wasn't even really a runway at all, but more like the floor of a haunted garage. Four models emerged from pimped-out Cadillacs, which were initially covered with white sheets (to remind folks they were there, the car horns honked intermittently throughout the show). The clothes themselves combined some of Stefani's other favorite things. One of the looks combines garden party with reggae; she calls it "Rasta Gatsby." Another, named "Pirate Trooper," draws inspiration from Vivienne Westwood's buccaneers and paratrooper jumpsuits. While many models did the usual stomp-walk down the stardust-flecked walkway, a few got into the groove and danced a little, especially when one of Stefani's new tunes was playing. Besides previewing "Candyland," "Breaking Up" and "Orange County Girl," Stefani also snuck in a new song from Rossdale's new band, Institute, called 'When Animals Attack'. "It was nice of her to put it in," Rossdale said. "I think she wanted to do something sweet." "That was probably my favorite part of the whole thing," Stefani said. "Besides 'The Sound of Music,' of course. The Julie Andrews part was the best."

 - The rare ND track You Are Unique appears on the first ND album in the form of a sax solo in Ache.

 - Gwen is planning on making a documentary on the design process of LAMB, filmed by her brother Todd. He was at the Fashion show yesterday.

 - It is rumoured that the new LAMB bags will be leather and range from US$500-$1000

 - Mark Romanek, the guy who directed the video for Hella Good, has just released a DVD with all the clips he's done, and the version of Hella Good features is the director's cut.

 - 'Hours before her first-ever runway show would begin, Gwen Stefani was hurtling through back-to-back interviews in Roseland Ballroom's basement. "My inspiration for this show is the same as it's been all my life," she said. "A little Sound of Music, some Orange County chola girl, some Rasta, and a bit of The Great Gatsby." Soon after the lights dimmed (just shy of an hour behind schedule), the first three influences became clear. Remakes of the von Trapp family's greatest hits blared from the speakers, four O.C.-ready low-riders parked along the room's perimeter bounced on their axles, and a bevy of beauties, their hair in cornrows and their lips lined in dark pencil, hit the glitter-strewn runway in red, black, yellow, and green knits. The Fitzgerald reference was mostly lost on this observer, but no matter.

Stefani is the most dedicated of our celebrity designers, and certainly the most talented. She waited four seasons before she brought her collection to the catwalk, and it paid off. Not only was it wide-ranging—encompassing day (cashmere cardigans) and evening (scallop-hemmed cocktail dresses), sporty (tracksuits) and elegant (thirties-style siren gowns)—it was also well made. Standouts included versions of the silk crepe tank dress the singer wore last week to Fashion Rocks, a python-print group, and wool admiral jackets.'

 - "L.A.M.B. pieces are priced from about $100 to $600. It is produced in China, where Stefani says the factory workers have her photo hung on the wall above their machines for inspiration."

 - Tony is helping produce a movie called 'The 1 Second Film' - www.the1secondfilm.com

 - 'Sexy singer Gwen Stefani is exploiting her No Doubt bandmate TONY KANAL's recently-broken finger - by using X-rays of it in her clothing line LAMB. Stefani plays a hands on role in designing clothing for her line - which stands for Love, Angel, Music, Baby - and now she's decided to put ex-boyfriend Kanal's broken digit to good use. She says, "Tony just broke his finger and he sent me the X-ray. So I'm doing a T-shirt that says 'Broken' and it's going to have his X-ray on it. The blonde beauty has also been drawing inspiration from other sources, explaining, "I'm stupidly crazy for old movies, I (record) them so that when I'm doing my makeup in the morning, I have them on. I can be like, 'Look at JANE RUSSELL in that shiny leopard dress - I'm copying that." '

 - Gavin: "It blows me away that she's at the top of her world right now."

 - 'The spring collection of L.A.M.B. features sweet floral frocks in prints of wisteria and chrysanthemums, and there'll be hard-core, edgy details like padlocks and chains, too. "L.A.M.B. is a fashion line that - fingers crossed - will just get more and more sophisticated. What's different than what's out there is the way I put things together. And, if you look inside the pants, you'll find secret details in there." Stefani, 35, recalls "fittings" when she was 3 for the clothes her mother made her and that when it was time to do back-to-school shopping, she'd take her $100 allowance and go wild in the thrift stores.
"I'd peg the pants and cut the shirts. My room was always a sewing disaster. I'm not a great technical sewer but I had the ideas. I'd use Velcro instead of zippers because they were easier to do."

 - The MTV VMA's screened this morning, and Gwen only won for best editing (wywf) and best choreography (hbg), which technically aren't her awards anyway (these weren't aired). She didn't perform. There was a poll for best dressed that you could vote for on the website however, and Gwen won! She won $50,000 cash to be donated to the charity of her choice, and she chose the Orange County Children's Hospital. While on the red carpet Gwen did a quick interview where she mentioned that she has 1000 samples to go through for the LAMB fashion show and she gets to choose and dress all the models - "It's like playing Barbie's but with people!" she said. At the beginning of the show P Diddy dances to a short version of Hollaback Girl, and while being interviewed on the red carpet Nelly used the phrase 'bananas' a number of times. Jessica Alba and Kelly Clarkson also both mentioned that they love Gwen. Gwen had hair extensions and was there with only her bodyguard.

 - Gwen came in at #3 on Blender's Hot 100 list!

 - I just got back from tonight's launch of Gwen's LAMB shoes at General Pants Co in Chapel St Melbourne. It was a pretty cool setup, there was a huge yellow banner hanging in the front window with the LAMB icon on it. They had a huge red carpet rolled out in front, and red velvet curtains in front of the door. There were two more banners inside designed to the style of Gwen's album, very cool.

 - There were a number of people in line with LAMB bags which was cool, and everyone who worked in the store were really nice, great customer service. Just a warning to anyone who is looking at buying a white lamb bag, they get dirty really easily (I spoke to a fan about it). I don't think the turnout was a big as they expected, but there were about 20 people there.

The shoes are being sold as unisex, as opposed to the male/female ones on the website. All shoes cost $199.95. All four designs are available, however only in white. This is throughout all of Australia.

 - The detail on the shoes was INCREDIBLE, especially the Music ones - on the metal eyelets it has 'music' and 'made with love' printed on it. The Angel and Baby shoes have text printed on the base of the shoe, which i got some photos of. The Love, Angel and Baby shoes are all leather - the Love ones have a bit of a creased look on the leather, and the Angel ones are alot smoother. The Music shoes are made of canvas, very nice.

 - They has the mini lamb charms sitting on the table, very cute - they're matte gold as opposed to shiny like the ones that come on the lamb bags. They were attached to a little card which reads: 'Royal Elastics introduces a much anticipated sneaker collection 'Made With Love' designed in collaboration with Gwen Stefani's LAMB label. LAMB stands for everything Gwen draws inspiration from. Each sneaker is carefully designed to represent one of the four lettered themes of LAMB 'Love Angel Music Baby'. This sneaker collection is representative of the Royal Elastic trademark laceless style, with classic silhouettes and unique treatments, inspired by the pop starlets own closet. "LAMB is something that I want to wear everyday, and I'm really excited to be adding a collection of LAMB sneakers to my closet. LAMB is very detail oriented. Everything counts. I wouldn't stand behind it unless it was perfect," says Stefani.'

 - I got to speak to the account manager of Royal Elastics and got some exclusive info on the shoes and the next line. The company are currently deciding as to whether they will order in a second lot of the shoes to be in stores in December, this time they will be releasing the black and gold shoes. They may however decide to wait until March 2006 when the new line of shoes are released and just order those in then. The new line consists of most of the current shoe designs in camo colours. Plenty more styles will also be coming out too such as knee high sneakers, heels, etc (lots of really great stuff, but I have a bad memory and can't remember it all). There will also be bags, belts, and a few other accessories and stuff released next year, however Royal Elastics aren't involved in that part.

 - Remember, the shoes are being in sold throughout Australia in General Pants Co and Platypus stores exclusively, and there are only a very small number available Australia wide! Get in quick because they will sell fast! Also be sure to head into General Pants Co to pick up one of their instore magazines, there is a small article on the shoes in there.

 - "Gwen Stefani is thrilled with the limited leisure time her busy schedule affords her - because she feels "worthless" when she's not working. The 'Rich Girl' singer, married to British rocker Gavin Rossdale, admits she doesn't like too much relaxation time, because she constantly needs to feel like she's achieved something.
She says, "I'm always sad when I take time off. I'm addicted to the rewards I feel when I accomplish things. If I don't do things, then I start feeling self-hate. I feel worthless."

 - Everyone should check out this site that Kate found, it has free mp3 interviews of all your favourite bands - www.toazted.com

 - "Gwen Stefani was lined up for Angelina Jolie's role in 'Mr and Mrs Smith'. The sexy singer has revealed she had 40 auditions for the action blockbuster and came close to winning the role. She said: "I tried out for 'Mr and Mrs Smith'. I did, like, 40 try-outs for that, I met with the director and everything, and I really wanted to do it." But Gwen was left devastated when she lost out to screen beauty Jolie. She admitted: "I was so upset about it, but it won't stop me. Movies are a challenge for me, and I do like a challenge."

 - Steve wrote to NDIFC in regards to the TK magazine, saying this: "The magazine looks great!!I showed it to my family and they were really excited. Thank you for send me the copies. You rock dude!!"

 - "The Harajuku girls, you mean?" she asks. "They came about because of a line in one of my songs ['What You Waiting For?'] that went, 'You Harajuku girls, damn you got some wicked style!' And so, naturally, I had to get myself some." Naturally. Auditions were held, and four - a Love, an Angel, a Music and a Baby - were eventually chosen. These were young Japanese women, dancers by trade, but who were required by their new employer to remain silent, sullen and exotically distant at all times. When she appeared with them on Jonathan Ross's BBC1 talk show recently, she insisted to him that they weren't actually real but mere figments of her imagination. Ross, an eyebrow halfway up his forehead, then wondered aloud whether one of them could give him a hand job, his reasoning being that if they didn't actually exist, he wasn't actually doing anything wrong. They could be his fantasy too. Stefani, who can be disarmingly prim at times, was visibly shocked. "What people didn't seem to understand was that they really were just a fantasy," she insists. "Why didn't they realise that?" Perhaps, I suggest to her in the careful manner one uses with someone whose marbles have clearly scattered, it was because they were anything but a fantasy. These women, I say, were ... are ... real. Her response is entirely deadpan. "Oh, sure, they're real now, but that's because they've become real, over time. But they weren't at first. Really, they weren't." She tuts impatiently, rolls her eyes, and I have absolutely no idea whether to take her seriously or not...

 - "Harajuku Lovers is a response to what Stefani noted is a limited market for her successful designer contemporary collection, L.A.M.B., which she is taking to the New York runway during fashion week next month. Unlike L.A.M.B., and its co-branded products with LeSportsac and the new sneaker collection with Royal Elastics, Harajuku Lovers wholesales between $20 and about $45. "Everything will retail for under $100," said Scargall. "That was important to Gwen." Also key is that the line remain active, Scargall added, and everything be cut from supersoft grinded or enzyme-washed cotton and fleece. Edges are raw and hemlines extended to add to the slouchy, street-informed, borrowed-from-boyfriend look. That is, except for the six-style intimates line of panties, camis, bras and drawstring lounge pants. Denim, she noted, is nowhere on the drawing board. From season to season, the line, Scargall noted repeatedly, "is lyrically inspired. In one song, Gwen sings about mixing and mismatching, and that's what she wanted for the line." The line will begin trickling in at Urban Outfitters stores and select specialty boutiques such as Kitson in Los Angeles and Big Drop in New York in late August; full shipping to wider channels is targeted for a fall-holiday delivery."

 - 'Harajuku Lovers: A Fatal Attraction in based on graphics and allover prints of the two first groups draw directly from this year's hit songs and videos from Stefani's platinum-selling solo effort "Love. Angel. Music. Baby." "This is part of Gwen's big fantasy," Sara Scargall, design director at Jerry Leigh, who is collaborating on the line with the pop superstar, told WWD. "Gwen wants to give back to her fans. She wants everybody in the family to access this in terms of price points, silhouettes and categories." Gwen Stefani’s first creation, fashion line L.A.M.B. will debut on New York runways during fashion week next month. Unlike L.A.M.B., and its co-branded products with LeSportsac and the new sneaker collection with Royal Elastics, Harajuku Lovers wholesales between $20 and about $45. Harajuku Lovers will include items for wome, men and children. All items in the collection are extended to add to the slouchy, street-informed, borrowed-from-boyfriend look. Denim is not included, but instead the six-style intimates line of panties, camis, bras and drawstring lounge pants will be present. Harajuku Lovers was created in a licensed partnership with California-based manufacturer Jerry Leigh Entertainment.'

 - Facts - on Gwen's Rolling Stone cover, the jacket she is wearing is reversible, so you should be able to see that the inside is white on the left, but they edited to make it plain black on the inside. http://www.123posters.com/images/music/m-stefani1.jpg and http://littlebitdifferent.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=1&pos=324. Also, when Gwen was on the cover of Dolly last year (the pink/blue cover one), the RS bikini she is wearing actually has a bit of red on it on the left bikini (the beginning of an 'N' after the word 'steady') but the edited that out too and there is just a black space. http://littlebitdifferent.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=10&pos=340

 - The ND forum might has shut down!!! **heart attack** Basically all the mods have resigned because Fullerene/Interscope are not making the forum work the way it should (ie banning/blocking people etc) and there are too many haters, pedophiles and rapists abusing people so they feel their work is pointless. They are recommending the shutdown of the forum until the new album is released (approx 16 months). One new mod remains but is on holidays and will be back in September.

So it's only appropriate that she's launching a line of L.A.M.B sneakers. Whipped up in Royal Elastics slip-on styles, the shoes are emblazoned with Rasta stripes, song lyrics, and dangling hardware--depending on the pair. Starting at $129, you don't necessarily have to be a "rich girl" to score some. Now, what you waiting for?'

 - From V magazine, 2004: Gwen -  "Dude, I want to do my own (movie). I'm not sure I'm supposed to talk about it yet. I want to do a movie that goes with the record. And "Baby" shoes are baby-soft, thanks to their cashmere lining (available in white or black).
